Good books to read as a family

So Maci's getting to the age where I think she'd enjoy reading a book as a family, me reading it aloud to everyone. I've thought about Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, Harry Potter is a little old I think. . . but wanted to know what all you read to your kids? I want short chapters, good story line, easy to understand for a 6 year old. . . you guys got anything in mind?? Comment away!

When I was student teaching I read the Junie B Jones books to my class. They LOVED them... but I've heard mixed reviews. Some peole don't like them. But they were a hit.

Ms. Frisby & the Rats of Nimh
Charlotte's Web

They're both kind of heavy storylines, but classics just the same. :)

I seriously cant think of anything besides Little House on the Prairie, sorry I wish I knew of something more exciting. But I remember I loved reading about that Laura Ingles as a kid, so it could be fun! :)

Eve loved Magic Treehouse at that age and they are quick reads and there is a MILLION of them. Also, I read Eve Little House in the Big Woods in kindergarten and she loved it! She devoured the whole series and now they are her "comfort" books. Such sweet gentle stories.
